I was in this calypso thing because my grandfather used to love calypso. So I kind of grew up in calypso, plus the church with Pocomania.

Growing up I never really knew my father. I was always with my mother. But my mother never said bad things. She was always a Christian type of woman and so I grow the same way.

My background is my parents are from Africa. They come here as slaves. My background is how I grow up in the country and we join the struggle.
